Its finally Friday! I don't know about you, but it's been a real long week for us. Thankfully we've got some really kickass new tunes that just dropped today to start of the weekend with a bang. Check out new tunes by The Regrettes, Halfnoise, Company of Thieves, and The Nectars below!
1. "Attention Seeker" EP by The Regrettes
Not too long ago, our favorite breakout LA rockers The Regrettes dropped their much anticipated single "Come Through". The "Attention Seeker" EP is a short teaser of whats to come. In addition to "Come Through" we are treated with two brand new tracks "Red Light" and "A Teenager In Love" - two killer, fuck society, no-filter honest teenage punk anthems. We also get two new acoustic versions of the tracks "Hey Now" and "A Living Human Girl" from their debut full-length release "Feel Your Feelings Fool!"
Check out the video for "Come Through" below.
"Attention Seeker" is available for streaming on all major platforms.
2. "Flowerss" by Halfnoise
A few months back I went to see Paramore play at Massey Hall in Tornoto. If you are unfamiliar, their drummer, Zac Farro, has another project called Halfnoise. Paramore played the track "Scooby's in the Back" at that show, and I've had a serious addiction to Halfnoise since. Naturally, I'm fucking psyched that they've got some new tunes coming out! The new track "Flowerss" is the title of a new EP due out May 4th (just an addition to our Star Wars day gifts). The track is very on-point with what you'd expect. Groovy, a little surfy, and super spacey - the track sounds like Unknown Mortal Orchestra fucked the Beach Boys and injected the lovechild with just a hint of LSD.
Check out the new track below - and if you're on the West Coast, make sure to pick up tickets for their short headlining run!
3. "Better Together" EP by Company of Thieves
Company of Thieves is back! And better than ever before! This new EP will make you wonder WHY THE FUCK they ever took a break? "Better Together" is the group's first release since 2011's "Running From A Gamble". The EP is a mix of frustrations regarding the current political state, anthems of friendship, struggling to do the adult thing, and one throwback. After years of making music separately, the band members went on a camping trip, built a fire, and decided to bring Company of Thieves back - maybe there was more than a fire involved, who knows ;)
4. "Untouch" by Hajk
Is it even Friday if we don't hear some dope new Indie-Pop? Well here it is! If you haven't heard of the Oslo-based band Hajk, you're about to be addicted. The new single "Untouch" throws layers of in-your-face vocal harmonies, matched with the perfect guitar tones, and piano punches at us to start off the weekend right. The new track talks about the wild ride of changing relationships, loneliness, and dependencies.
On another note...WHERE HAVE THESE NORWEGIAN GROUPS BEEN IN MY LIFE?
Sigrid, another one of my Norway favorites, has stated she's a big fan of Hajk. I'd take her word for it!
5. "Desert Queen" by Ecstatic Union
Have you ever heard of Ecstatic Union? We hadn't, and I'm feeling really behind. These dudes are killing it! "Desert Queen" graces our ears with the sounds of psych-folk guitar lines, and spacey vocals that are well deserving of lighting up a big fat J. Their upcoming EP "Neurons" comes out later this year, and I'll definitely have it on my spring/summer playlists for chilling out in the sun.
Check out the track below, and un-bury yourself from the deep, dark depression of winter!
