New Music Friday - Summer Solstice

1. "Stations" by Taylor Janzen

Here is 19 year old Winnipeg artist, Taylor Janzen. Her debut EP, "Interpersonal", will be out on August 10th!

"I wrote Stations in my room when I was 17 about the isolating and complicated feelings when one experiences psychological abuse from a loved one, regardless of the nature of their relationship. I think it was my attempt at breaking silence in a way that I previously didn't think I could. I almost don't really remember writing it because I kinda just emotionally puked it out.. but decided early on it would be the perfect 1st song to debut from the EP in hopes that someone may feel some solidarity through shared experience."

2. "Well" (Acoustic) by Xavier Dunn

The son of music teacher and the brother to four working musicians, Australian Xavier Dunn's musical bloodline is strong. Xavier grew up on piano lessons, string ensembles and family jams. We are obsessed with this beautiful acoustic performance!

3. "Jaded Summer" by The Silhouette Era

The Silhouette Era practically define Northern California's own brand of garage-surf. Influenced by the raw minimalism of bands like Pixies and The Stooges, the band creates blasts of scuzzy hooks similar to acts like Wavves and FIDLAR.

4. "Proud Parents" by Proud Parents

Starting in Madison, Winsconsin, Proud Parents is a full fledged four piece, Maggie Denman, Claire Nelson-Lifson, Heather Sawyer (the Hussy), and Tyler Fassnacht (Fire Heads). The band has established its own unique dynamic with three lead singers whose voices and songwriting stand strong individually, yet blend together with such comfort and ease that it is hard to imagine them apart. We are LIVING for this garage-pop!

5. "Salvation" by Tash Sultana

This talented Australian shreds on guitar and accompanies with beautiful lyrics. We cannot wait for her debut album, "Flow State", which comes out on August 31st! Until then we will be playing this on repeat!
