>> "Before the Afterthought" is the last song that Trevor Courneen wrote and recorded for his upcoming album 'Taller Hearts Will Prevail,' so in a way, it was almost an afterthought itself. He was partially inspired to write it by a line in the finale of The Office-- Andy Bernard says, "I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them. Someone should write a song about that..." And I'm sure many people have written a song about that since that episode aired, but he wanted to give it a shot too. He also used a phrase his cousin drunkenly said once: "Things are always better before they become not as good as they used to be." It's so redundant and funny on the surface, but he's always thought it was weirdly poignant too. It's like how nostalgia can be pretty painful, and how everyone tends to yearn for their younger years and old memories for one reason or another. Listen to this unique and remarkably refreshing single at the link below and be sure to keep an eye out for the release of Courneen's album on May 7th!
