Artist Spotlight: Miguel Cardona

“I am a Design Professor teaching Interaction Design and New Media at RIT. I teach problem-solving, research and critical thinking and as part of my work, I photograph, illustrate, sketch, doodle, tinker, and build things. My art is best summed up as process, the way I attempt to solve a problem, or to get myself into a new frame of mind—I am always processing. I draw on coffee cups or wine bottles to clear my head and while a in public space. I make digital art and prints to see things contextualized with new colors and textures like intentional daydreaming. I like the term chimera that means both a mythological creature composed of many animals, as well as a fantastical delusion or pipe dream. My collective art is a series of sketches approaching an impossible idea, a frenzied mashup of thoughts.”
