News Release: Make Music Day Rochester!

>>In just two days, the beloved, international festival known as Make Music Day is coming to our city. Mark your calendars for this Sunday, June 21, as Make Music Day Rochester! This extraordinary event has made its way across the globe, encouraging people, regardless of their musical background, to create music and enjoy it with others.

Just around the corner awaits a harmonious event, one that brings people together for a day filled with passion and performances. Powered by music, which has gathered people in celebration for as long as we can remember, this event serves as a universal tool that invites us to join as one.

This Sunday is also the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year and what better way to spend it than by celebrating the creation and sharing of music. In honor of this, Make Music Day Rochester will be held from 11am - 11pm. In years past, this live event held concerts in various spaces sprinkled throughout the city. This year however, all performances will be held online through one of four “virtual” stages. Though this day and the music being shared has been moved to a new platform, its core values remain the same. On the 21st, though it won’t be in person, we all can still come together to celebrate the Summer Solstice, support one another and take part in promoting community alongside 1000+ cities around the world through the heart of music.

The beauty of Make Music Day Rochester is that it’s an open invitation for anyone and everyone! Bringing a plethora of genres to communities across the globe, music making continues to be lifted up and cherished all over, even in the face of these current restraints. This event is completely free and performers are still being sought out to register for either a live or prerecorded performance. In addition, there are also spots for group events and opportunities for lessons.

Make Music Day Rochester is free of traditional festival constraints. Regardless of your level of musicianship, age, the instrument you play or the style in which you do, MMDR would love to have you sign up and be part of this wholesome celebration.
